Nairobi — This year's national schools music festival will be held from Sunday because of the referendum.
The festival was to begin on Friday but the dates were changed on Thursday to give teachers time to vote and travel to Kakamega where it will be held.
It had been scheduled to start on August 6, but was pushed back so teachers and trainers can vote and make time to travel to the Masinde Muliro University and Kakamega High School.
The duration of the schools and colleges festival was also cut down to seven days from 10 due to the referendum and for the convenience of participants and teachers, most of whom are currently on holiday.
The Provincial Director of Education, Mr K. K. Misoi, has welcomed all participants in Western Province.
At the same time, plans for accommodation for participants are complete. Those from Coast Province will be staying at the Mukumu High School, and Mukumu Girls Primary.
North Eastern students will be housed at Igunga Girls High School, Central Province participants will be accommodated at Vihiga Boys, Nyang'ori Boys High School, Tigoi Girls, and Chavakali Boys High School.
Rift Valley Province will be accommodated at Kaimosi Girls. Nairobi will be at Kakamega High School and Ingotse High School. Nyanza will be at St Annes Girls Mumias and St Mary's Girls Mumias.
