Nairobi — Kenya's Commonwealth Games team heads to camp on September 1 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) secretary general, Francis K. Paul, expects all the federations to have named their teams by August 31 in readiness for the camp.
Paul said NOCK will fund the training that shall comprise an estimated 150 sportsmen and women for the Delhi Games.
"We cannot project exactly how much we shall spend on the training since it will depend on the number of athletes and officials," said Paul.
"All that we care for now is to provide the best for our athletes to enable them perform well. Early preparations count a lot."
However, Paul confirmed that they have already done accreditation and what was remaining is the entry by names.
The country will be represented in 14 disciplines at the "Club" Games that run from October 4 to 14 in Delhi.
They are athletics, boxing, swimming, sevens rugby, squash, shooting, weight-lifting, badminton, wrestling, lawn tennis, bowling, cycling, table tennis and paralympics.
It's only in athletics that contestants will have to attain respective qualifying marks and times. Boxing will field a squad of 10 while the rest of the disciplines will depend on the quota given by the organisers.
Kenya finished 10th overall at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne Games with 18 medals - six gold, five silver and seven bronze.
All the medals came from athletics save for three bronze won by boxers.
