Nairobi — Detectives from Kenya's anti-terrorist Police unit on Sunday arrested an employee of a Mombasa based FM radio station in connection with the Kampala bombing.
The Kenya detectives trailed Habib Suleiman from his home in Nairobi city and arrested him in a Mombasa-bound bus in Kitengela. Mr Suleiman is the religious programmes producer cum presenter of Radio Salaam FM.
A staff at the radio station said his colleague was off-duty attending to some personal matters in Nairobi when he was arrested.
The station's programme controller Abeid Mutsmi said they had received scanty information regarding the arrest, adding that he will only make further comment after gathering adequate information.
"The issue is in public domain but we have no elaborate information regarding his arrest. He was at work three days ago and I don't understand how he was arrested," he said.
Twin blasts exploded across the Uganda capital during the 2010 World Cup final match in June, killing 76 football fans. The Somali based Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The arrest of the radio presenter brings to five the number of people arrested in Mombasa in connection to the Kampala bombings. Two suspects were arrested earlier in Nyali estate and seven vehicles suspected to have been stolen were recovered from their compound.
