Best Firms Honoured

IT was another night to celebrate for the East Africa's most respected companies as PricewaterhouseCoopers and Nation Media Group hosted a special evening of celebrations for East Africa's top companies.

The seventh edition of the awards cocktail night that saw the different companies represented, took place on Friday at the Kampala Serena Hotel poolside.

Kenya's national carrier, Kenya Airways for the second year running emerged overall winner for the East Africa's most respected company.

MTN Uganda and Tanzania Breweries also maintained their positions as the most respected companies in Uganda and Tanzania respectively.

Other Ugandan companies that took home top honors include Stanbic Bank Uganda and Mukwano Group of companies.

Stanbic Bank maintained their third position in the financial services sector while Mukwano Group of Companies displaced Kenya Cement manufacturer Bamburi Cement in third place in the manufacturing sector.

Telecommunications giant MTN Uganda, which toped as the most respected company in Uganda, finished second in the regional telecommunications sector behind Kenya's Safaricom.
