A five-member committee comprising Kenyan and Tanzanian security officers has been formed to investigate the recent raids at Kegonga Village in Tarime District.
The team was formed at a joint security meeting between government officials from the Trans Mara District in Kenya and their counterparts in the Mara region of Tanzania on Thursday.
Mara regional police commander David Saibul and Tarime district commissioner Stanley Kolimba attended the meeting.
Kenya was represented by Trans Mara district commissioner John Chege and an official from the country's Kurya East district Mr Herman Shambu. The committee was given up to May 24 to complete its work and submit findings to both governments.
During the raid, armed suspected Kenyan tribesmen shot dead a 28-year old pregnant woman, seriously injured her husband and looted household goods before driving away cattle belonging to the villagers.
The deceased was identified as Kaguri Marwa, and her husband Marwa Ntagira is admitted at the district government hospital in Tarime.
Villagers said the armed raiders were cattle rustlers who had been terrorising the district for a long time.
