A file containing documents of a company that surrendered Grand Regency Hotel before it was sold to a Libyan investor has gone missing, the Cockar Commission was told on Wednesday.
So, names of directors of Uhuru Highway Development Limited (UHDL) are not known, according to Pauline Wanja Gichuhi, who is attached to the companies section in the Department of the Registrar-General at Sheria House.
Kamlesh Pattni, the Goldenberg chief architect, is a principal shareholder of UHDL.
"We only have scanty information about Uhuru Highway Development Limited from our computer data as the file is currently not available," Ms Gichuhi said in her evidence to the commission, which is investigating the controversial sale of the five star hotel.
She was the thirteenth witness to testify before the commission.
Her official duties, she told the commission chairman, Justice (Rtd) Abdul Majid Cockar, involves perusal of documents presented for registration.
The only information available at the office of the Registrar-General, the witness said, was the company's registration number. And UHDL is shown as a private company that was registered on December 8, 1978.
The address of the company is also available, Ms Gichuhi said, adding that the firm was located along Nairobi's Kimathi Street.
However, the witness said the file could still be traced during cross examination by Mr Harrison Kinyanjui, who is appearing for Westmont Holdings.
The commission's twelfth witness, Mr Robert Hunja, the interim director-general of the Public Procurement Oversight Authority will continue testifying on Thursday.
