The fifth round of the Kenya National Rally Championship is on this weekend in Nanyuki with 30 cars in contention.
The race, dubbed the KCB Easy Pay Loan event to be held from Friday at the Ol-Pajeta Conservancy in Nanyuki.
There was a last-minute withdrawal on Thursday of the Revlon and Coca-Cola sponsored crew of Yogesh Patel and Keith Henrie in a Subaru Impreza N10 whom the Kenya Motor Sports Foundation said are out because their car is not ready.
Of the 30 cars in the race, are 25 in the main event while six in the two wheel drive. Fans will have the chance of catching the action Friday on the 1.8km stretch just off the Nanyuki-Timau main road, before the Likii River bridge.
The route has been designed with spectators in mind - allowing the large number of fans easy access into the stage and to various vantage position from where they can follow each moment of the action.
Running on smooth and narrow roads, the rally will give a big test to the driving skills on speed against use of hand brakes in negotiating the sharp corners.
Twists, high banks, slow bends, trees and a huge gallery of spectators to watch out for will be the challenges that the drivers and their navigators will face in their hunt for the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) points.
The top three contenders separated with just 45 points. Lee Rose, is having good run in his new Mitsubishi Evo9 and after failing to finish in Nakuru last month, he will seek to reclaim his position at the top.
Ruled the roost
In Nakuru, Triton Sports team colleague, Baldev Chager, ruled the roost but corporate rivals crew from OiLibya - Azar Anwar and Asad Anwar or the Dulbit Petroleum participants Carl 'Flash' Tundo and Alistair Cavenagh will be keen to cut Chager down.
Landis Rally team of Susheel Shah and Abdul Sidi will also be seeking to redeem itself after failing to finishi in Nakuru.
Safaricom's Anton Nielsen and co-driver George Njoroge have been inspired by their mentor Ben Muchemi who against all odds made a comeback to rallying just three months after a surgery. Nielsen is seeded tenth.
After the curtain raiser stage o the cars will be serviced at the entrance of the Sportsmans Arms Hotel.
