A woman who neglected her four-year-old child has been jailed for two years.
Mercy Mugure Ragoi was convicted after admitting the offence before Kibera principal magistrate Judith Wanjala.
In mitigation, the accused told the court that she went to look for a job but instead of going home found herself in a club.
She said she had no parents and was a single mother. But the magistrate said the offence was serious and jailed her without the option of a fine.
Ragoi had left the child unattended for two days on June 26, 2008, at Kirigu village in Karen.
