There is no easing off as the chase for the 2008 Kenya National Rally Championship series title reaches a peak stage.
With a maximum of 240 points to score from the remaining three rounds of the Kenya Commercial Bank-sponsored series, Baldev Chager will be more cautious of his 100-point cushion at the top of the table.
While Chager already has one of his hands on the trophy, the 2008 motorsport Man of Year will be wary of problems similar to Lee Rose's gremlins, which put paid to his championship ambitions in the last two rounds of the series last season.
Chager's main priority will be the remaining events starting with the Nairobi Rally on October 4 and 5 followed by Mombasa on November 1 and the Simba Union Club in Nairobi on November 22 and 23.
The Triton-sponsored Chager has 355 points.
National champion Carl Tundo and Tim Jessop are in the second spot with 255 points followed by Lee Rose and Piers Daykin with 250.
Charles Hinga's winning streak in the National Formula Two Rally Championship was finally broken by Leonardo Varese when the later scored his first-ever win of the F2 series.
However, Hinga maintains lead in the championship despite finishing third in Nanyuki.
Former Harambee Stars coach, Jacob "Ghost" Mulee was in Nanyuki last weekend as part of a group of volunteers helping the Nanyuki Rally organisers.
Mulee and his team helped man one of the Time Controls of the fifth round of the 2008 KCB Kenya National Rally Championship.
With more emphasis on further studies as a way forward, the Khan family has advised two of its sons, Imran and Farhaaz Khan to put rallying on hold and concentrate on further education.
Farhaaz, a relative newcomer to rally navigation, and his brother Imran, who has partnered Azar Anwar for most of his co-driving duties, will spend the next four and two years respectively in Scotland on studies related to aircraft engineering.
They are sons of veteran rally navigator Arshard Khan and nephews to Aslam Khan, who are active competitors in the ongoing KCB-sponsored series.
