Transport was paralysed in Karatina town for the better part of Saturday when matatus withdrew from the Karatina terminus to avoid a police crackdown on road unworthy vehicles.
There was commotion in the town as matatus sped off in different directions, causing a major traffic snarl up.
And in Murang'a, the permanent secretary for education has insisted that teachers must sign performance contracts.
Addressing education stakeholders from Murang'a North and South districts in Murang'a town, Prof Karega Mutahi said the ministry has formulated the performance contract forms which the teachers are expected to fill in.
"The forms are ready. You are required to set your own goals on what you should achieve," the PS said.
Elsewhere, displaced people camping at a church on Saturday claimed that they had not had a meal for the past three days.
Food supplies ran out on Tuesday, they said at the Word of Faith church.
According to their chairman, Mr Anthony Ng'ang'a, the shortage affects 350 families, and children bear the brunt.
"There had been a shortage of food for the last three months, but the stores had never gone dry until now," he added.
