As the Shs 10m (Frw 3m) cash rich Uganda Open tournament entered into its final round yesterday, Kenya's Dismus Indiza remained on course to defend his crown at Kampala's Kitante Golf Course.
The reigning champion carded a third-round 70 on Saturday to move into a one-shot lead ahead of fellow Kenyans Jacob Okello and Ali Kimani who were jointly tied in second place with five-under.
Okello, the overnight (Friday) leader stumbled to a par level round of 72 to drop to second place on the leader board.
Godfrey Mande, Uganda's key prospect returned 71 on Saturday to mount more pressure on the top trio. The score left him in fourth place with an overall score of two-under and four shots off the pace.
Meanwhile, Rwanda's Emmanuel Ruterana endured more woes at the course after returning a frustrating round of 76. He stayed at the foot of the leader board with ten over.
Should the Kenyan (Indiza) win, it will be back to back humiliation for the home golfers who walked into the tournament promising to reclaim the title.
