Nyatike Member of Parliament Mr Edic Anyanga Omondi was on Thursday charged with assault after he was involved in a scuffle with a security officer at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Mr Omondi was arraigned before Makadara Senior Resident Magistrate Mr Kimwele Muneni at around 2pm.
He denied that he assaulted Ms Daisy Chepkurui at the domestic departures terminal at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The MP denied assaulting the Kenya Airports Authority security officer and applied to be released on bond through his lawyers Paul Amunga and Kelly Odiwuor.
The plea was not opposed by the prosecution led by Chief Inspector Esther Ngure.
The court heard that the MP was on his way to Mombasa to attend to a Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence business.
The committee is heading to the coastal town to investigate the hijacking of a ship ferrying weapons from Ukraine.
Mr Omondi was directed to deposit a cash bail of Sh100,000 with an alternative of a surety of Sh200,000.
The case was fixed for hearing on December 5, 2008. It will be mentioned October 23, 2008.
He told the press that he will attend the Mombasa meeting.
