Standard Group Appoints Three New Directors

The Standard Group has announced the creation of three assistant directors' positions in its continuing consolidation of management and recognition of human capital value.

The Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr Paul Wanyagah, said holders of the new positions of Assistant Director, Sales and Distribution, Assistant Director, Commercial, and Assistant Director, Legal and Human Resources, will oversee important pillars of the business and enhance efficiency.

Sam Mutetei

Mr Sam Mutetei, who until the appointment was the Sales and Distribution Manager, becomes Assistant Director in charge of Sales and Distribution.

He is a Bachelor of Arts graduate from the University of Nairobi and holds a post-graduate Diploma from the Kenya Institute of Management. He brings to the position a wealth of distribution and logistics experience derived from fast moving consumer goods companies. He has been with the Standard Group for three years.

Mr Kabutha Nduati, who until the appointment was the Commercial Manager, becomes an Assistant Director, Commercial. He is a Bachelor of Arts graduate in business studies and economics from Kenyatta University, and is about to complete an MBA programme in Strategy at the University of Nairobi.

Kabutha has worked with the Standard Group for four years and has attended extensive sales and marketing courses and programmes both locally and abroad. He brings to the position fast moving consumer goods experience spanning more than 14 years.

Mrs Nelly Awori Matheka has been promoted to the position of Assistant Director, Legal and Human Resources. Her engagement in the last one year has been in the position of Group Company Secretarial and Legal Counsel.

Matheka is a Bachelor of Law graduate from the University of Nairobi and holds a Masters degree in law from the University of Lund, Sweden.

She has three post-graduate diplomas in legal education, international law and human rights and has undertaken training in administration, arbitration and pension schemes.

Matheka is an advocate of the High Court of 16 years standing and a certified public secretary. She will oversee the Group functions of human resources, legal, company secretarial and administrative services. The Group Finance and Administration Director's function has been renamed Group Financial Director. Mr Chris Kisire retains the position.

Ms Beatrice Atieno Rariewa has joined the Group as Head of Human Resources. She is a Bachelor of Arts graduate from Kenyatta University and holds a Masters degree in Entrepreneurship from Moi University. Rariewa also holds a diploma in management and a higher diploma in human resources management. She brings to the Standard Group 11 years of human capital experience gathered in varied industries.

The board in making these key personnel appointments, notes the outstanding key achievements made by Mutetei, Kabutha and Matheka in the recent past.

The promotions and appointment of Rariewa recognises the value of human capital in the growth of the Standard Group and its continuing accelerated corporate cultural transformation aimed at ensuring satisfaction for both customers and consumers.
